One of chemical compounds in onion bulbs tiwai is flavonoids, which have antioxidant
activity. Simplicia powder size expressed in mesh, is one of the important factors in extraction,
because the surface area to be in contact with the solvent. The aim of research to determine the
levels of flavonoids of onion bulbs tiwai based powder size simplicia. The extraction method used
in this study is macerated with 70% ethanol. Simplisia tiwai bulb onion powder made in a variety
of sizes 20, 40, 60 and 80 mesh. Each powder size simplicia flavonoid levels measured using UVVis
spectrophotometer. The results of the assay of flavonoids of onion bulbs tiwai on powder size
20, 40, 60 and 80 mesh respectively 1.97%, 2.41%, 1.92%, 1.75%. Onion powder size difference
simplicia tiwai affect the levels of flavonoids and flavonoid contained in the largest size of 40
mesh powders.
