People of Dayak Lundayeh, an ethnic group in Kalimantan Utara Province has been using Tabar kedayan (Aristolochia foveolata Merr,) as antidote and analgesic. The aim of this study was to investigate analgesic effect of the 95% ethanol extract of Tabar Kedayan root in mice. Fifteen mice were divided into 5 groups randomly. Group I as positive control (tramadol 0,05%), group II as negative control (CMC,1%), groups III, IV, V were administered Tabar Kedayan root extract at 25 mg; 50mg; and 100 mg/20g BW. Tabar Kedayan root extract showed analgesic effect and prolonged mice response time. Dose 25 mg has average response time 12.33 seconds; Dose 50 mg has average response time 16 seconds and Dose 100 mg has average response time 28.66 seconds. Data was analyzed with one-way ANOVA and LSD test. The result is Tabar Kedayan root extract 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg has analgesic effect Analgesic effect of Tabar Kedayan root extract 100 mg/20g BW is higher than tramadol 0.05%.
