Ceramic isolator widely used in transmission and distribution of electricity. Ceramic isolator production with a variety of methods have not been done including the sintering process in mixing clay and seashells. Waste shells composed of calcium carbonate that provide business opportunities if managed and utilized. The research process of testing material properties include dry shrinkage, density, firing shrinkage and water absorption. Samples used the natural clay mixed with seashells on the sintering process. The composition of the clay mixing 0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, 8% and 10% of the shells. Then proceed with the separation of the sample fraction in the sintering process and the continued determination of material characterization and identification of the mineral content of each fraction and its crystal structure. The results of the test mixture with clay and shells obtained dry shrinkage (7.6% -1.9%), density (1.49 g/cm3 - 1.22 g/cm3), firing shrinkage (18.2% -3 , 5%) and absorption (13.1% - 20.4%), which indicates that in study were within the limits required for ceramic production. Based on physical properties testing data, the best composition mixture of clay and seashell used 2% to 8%.
