Constructability is defined as the use of knowledge and experience of construction at its optimum at the stage of planning, design, procurement, and field implementation for building can be completed woke up with an effective, efficient and good quality. (CII, Austin, USA). Constructability improvement will be achieved optimally when there is integration between all parties to the project. Successful implementation of constructability improvement program depends on commitment from all members of the project management team to achieve success. The team includes the owner's project management, planning, and executing the project. In 1983, Bussiners Roundtable's Construction Industry Cost Effectiveness (Cicé), for four years doing research on how to improve the quality, efficiency, productivity and cost-effective in construction projects with the result that the increase "Constructability" can save 10 to 20 times from project cost. Similarly, the experience gained from the project owners who revealed that the implementation of accelerated construction schedule without performing constructability improvement can increase construction costs directly to average 25%. The purpose of this research is the understanding of the role of contractors in applying the concept of "Constructability" in project implementation, with the goal of achieving improved performance and efficiency in an optimal project. The research object is focused on building roads and bridges that are diwililayah East Kalimantan, with a sample contractor project manager, and as a research tool of research tools used were questionnaires, then the data is processed using nonparametric statistical analysis. Results of analysis states that the Importance and Performance analysis results reached 6.32 for the importance and the resulting performance is quite high, but there is a gap or difference of understanding (Importance) with the implementation of the Road and Bridge Construction Project in East Kalimantan at 10.42%. The result of factor analysis, see the perception that respondents to the concept of "Constructability" more associated with the ability to control the time of execution. Inability to control the execution time will affect the cost of the project. One of the ways used to control the execution time is to make a 'Construction Method "good. In addition to making construction methods can also improve the quality and safety implementation.
