Research objectives are: (1) to determine the effect of extract of kencur rhizome in controlling pests on lettuce plants, and (2) to introduce pest control technologies that are environmentally friendly.The experiment was conducted from October 2011 to January 2012 in South Sempaja urban village area, Sub district of North Samarinda, Samarinda.Research using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 (four) treatments and 3 (three) replications, namely: no kencur rhizome extract as a control (k0), 50 grams/liter of water (k1), 100 grams/liter (k2), and 150grams/liter(k3). Research activities include: preparation of kencur rhizome extract materials, preparation of planting materials, nursery, planting, fertilizing, crop maintenance, harvesting, collecting and analyzing data, reporting.The results showed that: (1) the extract of kencur rhizome affected very significantly on the leaves number at the age of 10, 20 and 30 days after planting, and (2) the extract of kencur rhizome significantly affected significantly on the intensity of pest attack at the age of 10, 20, and 30 days after planting.
