Objective of the research is to study the effect of weeding and NPK Phonska fertilizer, as well as its interaction, on the growth of rubber seedling (Hevea brasiliensies Muell Arg.) Klon PB 260. The research lasted for about five months, from May to September 2009. It was caried out at Jalan Samratulangi Politeknik Pertanian Negeri Samarinda, Sungai Keledang urban village of Samarinda Seberang subdistrict.The split plot design was employed for the research within randomized block design and 3 repetitions. The main plot factor was weed control (G) that consisted of 3 sub-factors: no weeding control (g0), chemical control along the strip (g1), mechanic control along the strip (g2). Whereas the sub plot was NPK Phonska dosage (P) with 4 sub-sub plots: no NPK Phonska application (p0), 800 gram NPK Phonska/crop/6 months (p1), 1,200 gram NPK Phonska/crop/6 months (p2), and 1,600 gram NPK Phonska/crop/6 months (p3). Results of the research revealed that: (1) the weed control affected significant to very significant on the crop height and stem diameter at 60, 90 and 120 HSP, canopy number at 30, 60, 90 and 120 HSP, and branch number at 90 and 120 HSP. Chemical strip weeding (g1) posed better seedling growth compared to mechanic strip weeding (g2); (2) the NPK Phonska fertilizer application affected very significant on the crop height, stem diameter, canopy number, and branch number at 30, 60, 90, and 90 HSP. The 1,200 gram NPK Phonska/crop/6 months (p2) application posed better seedling growth at 30, 60, 90 and 120 HSP; and (3) the interaction between the two above factors affected significant to very significant on the crop height and stem diameter at 60, 90 and 120 HSP, canopy number at 30, 60, 90 and 120 HSP, and branch number at 90 and 120 HSP. The interaction between chemical strip weeding and 1,200 gram NPK Phonska fertilizer/crop/6 months yielded the best parameters of rubber crop height, stem diameter, canopy number and branch number.
